FacilitationOrganisations are made up of individuals and groups of people who have to work together to achieve outcomes. To be successful and to remain effective, individuals & groups will need to take time out periodically, to review how they are working, or discuss how they may need to adapt to changing circumstances. A facilitator can enable individuals and groups to do this by helping them think through their actions and talk together in a constructive and focused way.Trudi Wakeman has been facilitating groups for twenty-five years and offers flexible facilitation of Action Learning, team and group days Action LearningAction Learning is a method of development which places the learning agenda in the hands of the learner. Individuals belong to a peer group of about 6 people who usually meet up every four-six weeks. Each person has his/her own 'air time' to talk about a current problem or issue, whilst other members of the group help him/her think it through by questioning, challenging and offering support. As a result of the discussion, the person arrives at an action point, which is implemented at work and reviewed at the next meeting.Because discussion is based on real work based issues, there is no difficulty in transferring learning back to the work place, and people learn through implementing their action points. Deep learning occurs through Action Learning - people learn to listen, ask useful questions and coach each other, resulting in useful skills being learnt which can be used elsewhere. People also learn how to reflect and consider their actions, which helps them implement achievable changes. Action Learning can also include traditional inputs, although these occur because of a need expressed by the group discussion. An Action Learning facilitator structures and encourages the discussion, and develops the necessary skills needed in the group for people to learn from each other. Team and Group Days:These are opportunities for teams and groups to look at the way they currently work together and how they may need to adapt for a changing future. They may have to decide upon future strategy and goals, and may need help in working things through. Simple but effective frameworks and models are offered which are easily understood and accessible to all members of the team or group, ensuring everyone contributes. These frameworks provide a set of steps which groups and teams can find helpful as a starting point in their planning. Whilst events are structured, they are also highly flexible and constantly adapt to the group's needs as the event goes along.Action points from the discussion are recorded, and follow up sessions are offered to review their implementation.
