Consultancy and Evaluation

John Burgoyne consults on management, leadership and organisation development, including the design of initiatives for organisations.

He also evaluates initiatives and programmes to establish their benefits and to identify opportunities for their improvement.

Consultancy

Good management and leadership enhances competitive advantage by enabling organisations to make the best use of their resources and the best use of their people. Research has shown that organisations with effective management development systems receive an above average return on investment. To achieve this, organisations need to have good practises, frameworks, systems and policies in place in order to develop their leaders and managers, and make the best use of their capabilities.

John Burgoyne offers a structured process for taking stock of existing management, leadership and organisational practices in order to benchmark them against international standards. In the light of this, appropriate schemes are designed for the specific organisation.

Evaluation

All organisations need to know whether what has been carried out has been useful. Evaluation is the essential activity to achieve this throughout and after organisational initiatives and programmes.

By talking to all stakeholders including the designers and users of any initiative, and by gathering data, evidence is collected to provide the basis for evaluation. Steps include:
  • establishing the intended processes and outcomes of initiatives
  • establishing what question(s) the evaluation needs to address, in order to determine what data to collect
  • defining and collecting data
  • analysing data and presenting conclusions to the question(s)
Recent evaluation projects include working with the NHS, BP and the National College of School Leadership.
